The Center for Advanced Studies in Mathematics and the Department of Mathematics at BGU have a long tradition of supporting gifted and academically motivated high school students by encouraging them to enroll in undergraduate courses while still in high school. Among the first such high school students, who later completed their undergraduate studies with us, were Yossi Friedman (who went on to receive a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford and is now a sponsor of the Center for Advanced Studies in Mathematics), and Victor Vinnikov (who went on to receive a Ph.D. from our department, under the supervision of the late Moshe Livsic, and is now an associate professor in our department).
