Ben Gurion University of the Negev
Department of Mathematics
ALGEBRA 2
Course number: 201-17021; Spring Semester 2012
COURSE PLAN
- Polynomials
- Canonical forms
- Inner product spaces
- Linear operators on inner product spaces
COURSE POLICIES:
There will be 6 homework assignments and a final exam.
You must pass at least 4 out of 6 homework assignments during the semester to get a grade in the course. Students with less than 4 passing assignments will get a final grade of 0 even if they pass the exam. Students with 4 or more passing homework grades will get a final grade equal to the exam grade.
- Homework assignments will be published weekly on this web-page, with some of the questions marked for submission.
- Work seriously on these assignments. Every other week you will be required to submit the marked questions from the previous two weeks.
- As you need four passing homework grades, you may fail to submit two assignments for any reason (sickness, family, reserve duties, etc.); you do not have to ask special permission. Use this sparingly as no further reduction in the homework requirement will be granted except for extremely special cases.
- No late submission of homework will be accepted.
- It is recommended that you work and submit homework assignments in pairs.
- Please mark clearly on the submitted exercise sheet (for both students submitting):
- Name
- ID number
- Teacher (Feintuch, Segev, Glasner or Sobol)
- Name of Metargel and the time of the Targil session.
- Submission and collection of the homework will be only at the TIRGUL group. If you are submitting in pairs you should submit to the earlier of the two tirgul sessions.
- It is your responsibility to submit and collect your assignments in your Tirgul hour. Please keep all graded assignments until you received the final grade in the course.
- You may take the final exam only if you got a passing grade (not lower than 56) in at least 4 of the 6 homework assignments.
