TRANSPORTATION

On the arrival day, Sunday May 23, we intend to arrange shared taxis, free of charge, from the Ben-Gurion (Tel-Aviv) airport to the conference site in Midreshet Sde-Boker. We will send an approximate timetable of the shared taxis later, after we know participants flight plans. People who are in the Tel-Aviv area on Sunday and wish to arrive independently to the Ben-Gurion airport and join the taxis should let us know. The meeting point at the airport will be next to the Steimatzky book store at the reception hall to your right as you exit the customs check. Sara Westreich will be there most of the day to help people with the taxis (Note: some fly-by-night taxi operators might suggest their services - we strongly recommend that you do not use their services).

For the group arriving on Sunday from Haifa by train to Beer-Sheva we will arrange a taxi from Beer-Sheva to Sde-Boker.

At the end of the conference (Thursday evening, May 27, and Friday morning, May 28) we intend to arrange transportation from Sde-Boker to Beer-Sheva, to the Ben-Gurion airport, and to Tel-Aviv.

If you come on Sunday from another place in Israel, or leave on Thursday/Friday to another destination, please let us know on the registration form - perhaps we will be able to assist.

GETTING TO SDE-BOKER INDEPENDENTLY:

If you choose to arrive at Midreshet Sde-Boker independently by public transportation, the best way is:

1) First proceed to the Beer-Sheva central bus station or to Beer-Sheva Center train station (located next to each other). During daytime there is regular service to Beer-Sheva by bus and train from Israel's major cities. For timetables see:
Buses
Trains

2) From the Beer-Sheva central bus station, take bus number 382, 392, or 395 and ask the driver to get off at Midreshet Sde-boker (IMPORTANT: do not confuse it with Kibbutz Sde-Boker, which is 2-3 minutes earlier). This should take about 30-45 minutes. You can also take a special taxi to Midreshet Sde-Boker, which should cost approximately 200IS ($50), or you may request the driver to use the meter.

3) From Midreshet Sde-Boker junction, cross the highway, and walk 15 minutes to the Field School (Beit-Sefer Sade) office. Try to call us - there is a good chance that someone with a car can pick you up.

If you have any difficulties, please call any of us at one of the phone numbers below. Below is also the phone number of a very reliable taxi driver who works with the BGU math department.
